PUBLIC Kitchen + Bar has officially announced the opening of their new restaurant in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Located at 229 E. 6th Street, PUBLIC looks forward to welcoming you and celebrating new traditions. Wilkus Architects provided comprehensive, full-scope design services that evolved and responded to the vision and direction of owner Carol March. The design includes 10,000 square feet interior restaurant space over two levels, 2 bars, lounge and outdoor patio. Littered with historic architectural details dating pre 1915, PUBLIC Kitchen + Bar plays off the original brick, high ceilings and heavy timber construction with it's industrial inspired decor.

PUBLIC's Executive Chef Greg Johnson has created a menu for PUBLIC kitchen + bar focusing on scratch cooking, with a seasonally changing menu of New American cuisine featuring artfully crafted salads, pastas, seafood, steaks, rotisserie meats, and desserts with small plates for the lounge level. menu features .


About PUBLIC Kitchen + Bar: PUBLIC Kitchen + Bar, once home to the Wood's Chocolate Factory in the historic former Noyes & Cutler Building, overlooks Mears Park in Lowertown Saint Paul, MN. Our upper level restaurant and bar features an open and airy dining room with large windows and an open kitchen that seats 180. Enjoy our sidewalk patio overlooking Mears Park which seats 54. Relax in the lower level lounge while enjoying classic cocktails, a menu of small plates and desserts and comfortable seating. PUBLIC is more than just a building.

Mike Herstine, General Manager of Public Kitchen & Bar, has been in the business long enough to know that when running a successful restaurant, “it’s all about relationships with others.” He believes that working with people who are genuine and sincere is the key to doing well. Mike brings his diverse restaurant experience and a long history of working in the Twin Cities to the team. Mike believes that in life, you “receive what you give,” treat people well and they will respond in kind.

PUBLIC Kitchen + Bar is open from 11 a.m. to close daily. Saturday and Sunday Brunch is served from 10am until 3pm. The lower level lounge is open from 4pm until close. You can make reservations ahead online on their website at
