Sonic Drive-In officially launched their new prototypical design in Jamestown, TN on June 24th, 2013. The prototype, designed with Wilkus Architects of Eden Prairie, MN, focuses more on the "Small town" with a scaled down version of their standard drive-in restaurant. The prototype is actually Sonic's second installation of the new design, with the first opening in Valliant, OK.
The new prototype focuses on the versatility of becoming expandable, reserving the option to increase from 18 to 40 car stalls. Being able to compete in small markets allows the brand to develop prime locations with high brand recognition. This increased visibility helps delineate Sonic Drive-In from other surrounding restaurants.
"Sonic's vision is simple: to become America’s most loved restaurant brand. SONIC® Drive-In’s founder, Troy Smith Sr., strived for that vision and after more than 60 years it remains the same. What once was a small hamburger and root beer stand named Top Hat Drive-In has grown to become America’s drive-in with more than 3,500 locations coast to coast.- Sonic Drive-In"
