Nystrom & Associates, Ltd. | Sartell, Minnesota | Project Completion

In June 2018, a new Nystrom & Associates, Ltd. opened in Sartell, MN.

With Sartell’s design, Nystrom & Associates strengthened their brand through deep connections to their Otsego and Baxter locations. Natural color tones and connect the building back to Nystrom’s Minnesota roots, yet still provide a dynamic approach to a complex site.  A monumental stone tower provides a focused perspective on the entry while an array of windows break up the unified façade and provide natural light well into the building.  The two story, 20,000-square-foot facility offers a large central waiting room, numerous provider offices and several large therapy group rooms on each floor.

Nystrom’s services include: psychiatry, counseling, in-home therapy, group therapy, psychological testing, co-occurring chemical dependency treatment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), adult day treatment, and nutrition counseling. Learn more here.

Wilkus Architects and Heritage Construction worked with Nystrom & Associates to improve the Sartell location by developing a more energy efficient shell that’s less expensive and easier to build.

Thanks to Heritage ConstructionCEI Engineering Associates, Inc. and LS Engineers for the partnership!

Caribou Coffee | The Avenues Mall - Bahrain | Project Completion

In February 2018, Caribou Coffee opened a new location in Manama, Bahrain at The Avenues Mall.

Caribou Coffee’s brand typically represents the iconic Midwest as most of them are corporately owned. Even though international locations still have to follow a design manual, there’s a little more freedom to make these locations unique. The Avenues Mall location features new stone columns with wrap-around seating that give guests flexibility while extending sightlines to the vaulted ceilings.

Wilkus Architects provided architectural designs services from programming through construction drawings. The use of 3D design and rendering services provided Caribou’s international design team many iterations and renderings to help focus in on the unique design, while remaining true to Caribou’s design standard. The layout allowed for 98 seats inside, as well as a small patio seating area with 13 seats.

Thanks to owners Sanjay Kumar & Shyam Rathore with BBGM Food and Leisure Co., and Caribou Coffee International Designer Jessica Rust!

Raising Cane's | Dinkytown, Minneapolis | Project Completion

April 13, 2018 marked the opening of another Minneapolis Raising Cane's location!

The new restaurant is located in the historic Dinkydome building, conveniently located on the University of Minnesota's East Bank campus, occupying a space that was previously a Pro-Cuts salon.

This location embraces the typical look and branding of a Raising Cane's restaurant, with the logo splattered on the wall and disco balls hanging from the ceiling. However, it also sets itself apart by embracing the University of Minnesota colors of maroon and gold throughout the space, giving it a more local and personal feel for students, faculty and Minneapolis residents.

Per a Raising Cane's press release

"Students have been asking for a Raising Cane’s closer to Dinkytown for years, so we can’t wait to start serving our ONE LOVE to the area," said owner General Manager Kory Blaschko. "The Love Chicken Franchise of Raising Cane’s began looking at locations in Dinkytown in 2016, and once the old Pro-Cuts location became available, we knew we had finally found what we were looking for."

Thanks to our partner Schreiber Mullaney Construction for the help on this project!

Check out the new location at:

302 15th Ave. SE. Minneapolis
